Listen to an interview with celebrated New York City street artist Seth Tobocman speaking and reflecting on relations between social movements and the arts. Specifically this interview looks at the history of street art in the lower east side of NYC, looking to the origins of activist stencil art in the area, while also extending to Seth’s more recent book projects looking at social and climate justice.
In the interview Seth speaks about a recent book project done in collaboration with independent economist Eric Laursen on the US financial crisis. Also the interview explores recent flyers and drawings done around grassroots community organizing that took place in NYC in response to Hurricane Sandy and also in New Orleans in response to Hurricane Katrina.
